D3 down

Oops – my D3 lens change button did something weird the day before I left, and today it decided it had had enough, and popped off at another cyclone shelter. Thankfully the 24-70 is on it, so I can still use it until I figure out how to get it working again – I can’t even see what’s got to move for it to go…

Ah well, another trip to Kingston for my kit – seems to have been there rather too much lately. Still, just over 130k clicks on the body (in almost exactly 2 years), so it’s done pretty well. And the rubber’s stayed on – first time for any D-series pro-body for me.

It may be nicely lit, but it still don't work...

Update :: managed to disconnect the body and lens using that funny white ‘tooth pick’ thing on my Swiss Army knife, so the D3 was graciously retired into a Peli, and the D700 swung into use.  Again, thinking back to film, and always having three cameras swinging around (100ASA slide, 800ASA print, B&W), I really try and avoid using more than one body at a time if possible – just so much easier to move…
