Haiti: Beyond the Rubble exhibition – 27

The exhibition opens today – you’re welcome to visit!

Tearfund afternoon children’s club, outside Leogane, run by Monette Jean (25).

Jean Francoise and Monette Jean are sisters who run one of more than 70 children’s clubs that Tearfund has set up since the earthquake. They have 130 pupils between the ages of three and 14 who attend two or three times a week.

They teach the children songs about healthcare and disease prevention and provide a safe place where children can be children again in the midst of hardship.

Jean Francoise emphasises the importance of coming to the club: ‘It’s a way of us being able to revive the children. For so many, there has only been sadness and we want to bring joy to their lives while teaching them what they need to know.’
