Twenty :: Bangladesh
‘Twenty’ part 5 :: Bangladesh 1997
‘Twenty’ is an occasional series to mark the first twenty years of my work as a professional photographer.
I’ll revisit Bangladesh at other points in this series, as it’s one of my favourite countries, and I have a lot of pictures that I love from here. This image shows brick works near Dhaka – almost all of the land in Bangladesh is sand and silt, so there’s very little rock to use for hardcore and other building materials, so all along the rivers there are huge brick works. Obviously, some of the bricks are used directly for building, but a significant number end up being crushed by hand to make gravel.

I’ve created a gallery of the images from ‘Twenty’ so they’re all in one place, as well as on these individual pages.
