twenty :: guinea

Twenty is a series of pictures showing some of my favourite images from my first twenty years as a photographer.

Guinea wraps itself around Sierra Leone and Liberia, so had become, in the late-90s, home to tens of thousands of refugees from those countries’ civil wars.  My visit to Guinea was to report on refugees, and the work of Tearfund partners in supporting them.

In one of the camps, I think fairly close to the Liberian border, but I may be mis-remembering, we went to a very, very noisy church service – from which I escaped at some point, and found an equally noisy (but somehow a whole lot more fun…) Sunday School.  This is that:

That’s Guinea – Guinea-Conakry, not Guinea Bissau, Equatorial Guinea or Papua New Guinea…
